It was the spring of 1965, and Sarah, the carnival cook, has returned to Prairie Bluff, Wisconsin. Waking up to find the carnival was sitting high on a bluff above her family’s business did not make Sarah’s day. In her previous life, she managed The Prairie Bluff Inn and Amphitheater.

Veronica was home. Veronica’s large Victorian home sat on a hill in Freeport, Illinois. Known as The Chapman House, the upscale brothel gave men fine wine, beautiful woman, and a night of pleasure. She had everything she could ever want…a beautiful home, more money than she could ever spend, and a man who loved her.

Nebraska is the last place Frank wanted to return to. He loved his life in the carnival and had pushed past all the turmoil and devastation of his other life to find peace in the one he had now. Married to Sarah, the carnival’s cook and gifted psychic, he liked living within the invisible walls of The Mida.

Something was wrong. It was March 23, 1968 and a huge snowstorm had just hi the Memphis, Tennessee area. For the first-time ever, the mystically-powerful carnival arrived in knee-deep snow. Bruised and cold, they struggled out of the trailers and tents to discover Connor was missing.

The carnival has arrived in 1840’s New Orleans, and Carlotta is back home, ready to take on her life again. Engaged and ready for a family and lots of children, she’ll do anything this time to make it work.

On a quiet peninsula of Lake Michigan sits a beautiful area of solitude and reflection. It’s here the carnival appears and settles in. Time seems to begin and end here, but not everything is as it seems.
